Oscars Best Foreign Language Film 2018: List of Films Submitted from 87 Countries

Oscar predictions for the regional films are heating up in Hollywood and all the films screened in festivals and which had theatrical release are pushing beyond their limits to get a nomination in the prestigious award ceremony. The Academy Awards is undoubtedly the biggest recognition a film can get for its art value and cinematic quality.

One category which is most fought for all the years is the Best Foreign Language film and over 100 countries around the world compete for the award and make their submission to the Oscar board. Last year The Academy saw 92 submissions and this time 87 films have been submitted and ready to be shortlisted to 9 films for the awards night among which 1 film would take home the award.

Italy holds the record of winning the most number of awards in the prestigious category with 14 awards and followed by France with 12 awards so far in the past 68 ceremonies. This time French film Memoir of War is a trusted product to make it to the list and the film Roma of Mexico is the strong contender for the title as per predictions. The director of the film Alfonso Cuarón has already won an Oscar for his Hollywood directorial film Gravity.
