The Meg becomes Highest Grossing film in Jason Statham career as Solo hero

'The Meg' after being the No.1 film in last week’s worldwide box-office, the weekend was grabbed by new releases and the Jason Statham starrer film took the third spot in the weekend. The movie is making an exceptional business in the international box-office collecting more than $300 million in the overseas markets. In China collected $143 million so far which is huge comparing to the star’s popularity in the territory.

Although Shark playing a major role in the film’s reception, the film has Jason Statham as a solo hero collecting $408 million worldwide emerging as the highest collected film in Statham’s career apart from the multi starrer Fast and Furious franchise films. The movie brought him back to the business after the decline of his most expected Mechanic sequel. 

The star has not been doing films at a continuous pace, rather he is preferring limited screen time off late. While the super success of the film ‘The Meg’ will give him a great comeback for doing films of the big brand as a solo action hero like the old Jason Statham. The actor is next acting as Deckard Shaw in the spin-off film of ‘The Fast and Furious’ franchise as a starter to a new series.
