Kids get attracted towards the hazardous things including insects, hairs, coins, toy parts, even moving worms, plastic covers, medicated capsules, colorful beats and tend to swallow them.  Hairs might come out in poops without much complication.  Though some things, needs surgery to remove them, some plastic material come out in stools safely because they do not have sharp ends.  It becomes the most important duty of the parents and care takers to watch them carefully and protect them.

A team of pediatrics work together to conduct a study, which was just published in the Journal of Pediatrics and Child health.  The researchers did a stool Hardness and Transit score to measure the frequency and looser bowel movements of six volunteers to dine on Lego heads until they spotted the bright colored plastic pieces in their poop.

A higher SHAT score meant that the participant had more frequent and looser bowel movements.  Every child has a pre-SHAT score, calculated for the 3-day period before the Lego head meal, and a SHAT score for the time between the ingestion and the pooping out of the Lego head. Thus, each participant was given totally 2 SHATs.

The researchers then recorded the frequency and then tabulated what they described as the Found and Retrieved Time (FART) score, which means the number of days it had taken to pass the stool with the Lego Head.  Lego head took about 1-3 days to pass through the body and would be pooped out without any serious complications within three days.  Most of the ingested unwanted foreign things always pass out safely once they cross into the stomach if they are small enough to enter the tract and if they have no sharp ends.
