The Florida Health Department found Hepatitis A infection in a restaurant service worker at Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs.
The Department announced on a social Media on Wednesday Night that anyone who consumed food or beverages from November 6 to November 16 at this restaurant situated in 1600 E. Buena Vista Drive are likely to be exposed to the Hepatitis A virus. They should get help from the health care provider and get vaccinated if they have any symptoms of variation in urine color, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, fever and other jaundice symptoms.
Hepatitis A vaccine or immune globin may help against the disease if given within a fortnight after exposure. The customers who have already had hepatitis A vaccine do not need to be immunized for hepatitis A again. The officials warn that Orange County has higher infection risk this year than the average five-year previous cases.
Hepatitis A is usually spread through the feces or stool of the infected person if the hands are not properly washed or disinfected. Hepatitis A vaccine is recommended for all children at age 1 year and for certain high-risk groups of adults including illegal drug users, homeless people and men who have sex with men(MSM). In October 2018 one case was linked to another case by sexual contact, and 1 case by non-sexual personal contact.
The agency also announces to the residents of the people that uninsured Orange County residents can receive the hepatitis A vaccine for free at the following locations by appointment:
6101 Lake Ellenor Drive, Orlando, FL 32809 (for ages 19 and older)
Phone: 407-723-5054
832 W. Central Blvd., Orlando, FL 32805
Phone: 407-858-1444
