A 10-year-old girl from Wales has made an unusual discovery while on a beach walk, discovering dinosaur footprints that are estimated to be over 200 million years old. This find occurred on the south coast of Wales, at Lavernock Point near the Vale of Glamorgan, a location known for its prehistoric significance.

The Unexpected Discovery:

Tegan, who was exploring the coast with her mother Claire during a summer holiday, spotted unusual markings in the red siltstone. Her curiosity led them to uncover five enormous footprints, which experts now believe were made by a Camelotia, a large herbivorous dinosaur from the late Triassic period.

Dinosaurs Details:

The dinosaurs were recognized by the experts as Camelotia, and these footprints, measuring up to 75 cm apart, are attributed to a dinosaur from the sauropod family, known for their long necks, tails, and massive bodies.

Cindy Howells On Dinosaurs:

The recent discovery of large footprints along the South Wales coastline has caused a stir in the paleontology community. Cindy Howells, a paleontology curator at the National Museum Wales, has officially confirmed the authenticity of the find.

Howells emphasized the significance of the footprints, noting that they measure half-to-three-quarters of a meter apart and were made by a Sauropodomorpha, a group related to the sauropods.

This makes the researchers eager to officially verify the footprints and delve deeper into the world of Camelotia, a significant herbivorous dinosaur of its time.

Wales:

The South Wales coastline, particularly the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, has a rich history of significant prehistoric finds. In 2014, a full dinosaur skeleton of a Dracoraptor, a meat-eating relative of the T. rex, was excavated nearby. This region has been a hotspot for paleontological discoveries since 1879, further solidifying its status as a treasure trove of prehistoric heritage.
