A Great News For Sky Watchers And Moon Lovers!
Night of July 27-28, 2018 is going to be the historic day in the space science because it would be the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century as it can be seen for about 1 hour and 43 minutes max. and every time, you could see the eclipse only for 1 hour and 6 minutes while the moon actually takes four hours to cross the Earth’s shadow. The reason for the longevity of the eclipse is because the moon will be at the apogee distance which is very far from our planet. The lunar eclipse is the well-known phenomenon where the moon is in the shadow of the Earth and Sun, Earth and Moon all lie in the same line. It is exactly opposite to solar eclipse. The colour of the moon is Deep red to orange because of the Rayleigh scattering of sunlight by the Earth’s atmosphere where green and violet lights get filtered. People in the European Union are lucky to watch the complete lunar eclipse in July 2018. Other than this, the blood moon is visible in Asia, Australia, Africa and South America countries.
July 2018 lunar eclipse is the second one in this year after January 31, 2018. At that time, the moon was near its perigee i.e. the closest distance between the earth and moon. It is called as Supermoon while the previous one occurred in September 2015.
Be prepared to shoot out the rare event of the century!!!1
