The young Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah who is not playing the 1st test against England due to thumb injury as reported earlier has undergone a minor operation in the injured finger. It was said that he will play from the 2nd test match after the complete recovery. An insider from the BCCI suggests that the operation wasn’t so successful and it is doubtful for Bumrah to play the upcoming test matches.
The bowler injured his thumb during the T20 match against Ireland on 27 June, due to which he wasn’t able to play the limited overs cricket against England. While everyone was hopeful on his recovery before the commencement of 2nd test now the situation doesn’t seem right for the player.
After the operation, he was advised to take rest for at least 2 or 3 weeks time. But as a bowler, there is a huge part for him to be played for India in the upcoming matches. Since the displaced fracture is in the non-bowling hand, the selectors might favour him by selecting him to play, said the source from BCCI.
