Osaka EarthQuake Hit In Western Japan Today Now Train And Airport Services Resumed

Earth-quake prone country Japan suffered once again with a strong earthquake today morning in its second-largest city and reminding of the 7.3 magnitude - 1995 Great Hanshin quake that killed 6,434 people but this time, the death toll is not that much high and no major damage identified as said by Japanese Government authorities.

A powerful Earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 hit the northern part of Osaka Prefecture in the western part of Japan at around 8 am in today morning and subsequently, it left 3 people dead and more than 200 injured. Besides Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo and Shiga prefectures also experienced the quake effect. 

The dead involves a 9-year old girl on whom the swimming pool surrounding wall toppled and an 80-year old man who also died in similar fashion due to wall collapse at his home and third-one is the 85-year old man who died at home when a bookshelf fell on him. 

Amidst the 6.1 Earthquake, a tsunami warning was not provided and no impact on nuclear plants in the area and they are functioning as usual. The quake is recorded below 6 on the Japan's 7-point seismic scale with a focus at about 13 km depth.

Production was suspended in many industrial sites near Osaka. Power was cut in more than 170,000 buildings and homes and gas supplies were stopped. Water pipe beneath a road in Takatsuki was broken and water leakage covered the cracked floor area. Fire broke out at 20 places of Osaka city was observed. Many people were subjected to stay in streets. Students were made to settle in playgrounds after the hit of the earthquake. 

Airports and Bullot-trains are temporarily kept out of service, but, they are resumed after 2:30 pm but at reduced speeds in the quake-hit areas. No damage identified in the airport inner buildings and it is reopened now.
